How long does it take for the Somnee device to adapt to my sleep patterns?Updated 8 months ago

While some users see their sleep improve in just a few sessions, 80% of Somnee Sleepers report the biggest benefits to their sleep and daily energy after 2-3 weeks of consistently using their Somnee.

In general, we advise using Somnee for at least 14 to 21 sessions to experience its full benefits — Here's why.

Somnee works in two phases:

  1. Phase 1: Mapping
For the first 7 sessions, the Somnee headband delivers gentle baseline sleep stimulation with safe tACS (transcranial alternating current stimulation) through the hydrogel electrodes attached to the flex clip. This stimulation is designed to mimic and enhance your brain’s unique patterns of brainwave activity before sleep.

At the same time, the advanced EEG+ sensors on your headband monitor your brainwave activity to study the unique way your brain likes to sleep.

After every session, Somnee analyzes your brain’s activity pre- and post-stimulation to see how effective it was at helping you sleep. It then uses those insights to improve your stimulation the following night.

  2. Phase 2: Personalization
Starting your 8th session, Somnee begins using what it's learned to personalize your nightly stimulation. Just like in the Mapping Stage, every night Somnee reviews how effective its stimulation was to fine-tune its approach and becomes more effective over time. This stage takes an additional 10 to 14 sessions to complete.

*For optimized performance, it's best to use the headband consistently.

**Additionally, it's important to ensure your forehead is clean before use and that the sensors are making full contact with your forehead, otherwise, benefits may be delayed.
