We work hard to ensure Somnee is safe for all of our customers. However, a small number of users may experience skin irritations as a reaction to certain materials. We want everyone to feel comfortable using our product, and have prepared a few recommendations to help:
- Some skin creams, moisturizers, and natural skin oils can increase sensitivity to stimulation. Please wash your forehead and ensure it’s fully dry before using Somnee.
- Your electrodes may have dried out. To keep electrodes at peak performance, we recommend storing them at room temperature and swapping them out for new ones every 3 nights (or 4th day), whether you’ve used your Somnee or not.
- Hair or dust can interfere with stimulation, so make sure your electrodes are making full contact with your skin.
- Some with pre-existing skin conditions (e.g., acne, eczema, scars) may experience skin irritation with Somnee. Please allow your skin to fully heal before using Somnee.
- The stimulation intensity may be too high for your skin. You can adjust it to a more comfortable lower level in the settings tab in the Somnee App.
You only need to wear your Somnee for 15 minutes before bedtime — you do not need to wear your headband overnight to experience the benefits. Wearing your Somnee headband overnight may result in some skin irritations or blemishes.
If you are experiencing any skin irritations such as soreness, redness, or a burning sensation, stop your Somnee stim session immediately and remove your headband. Please allow your skin to fully heal before using Somnee again.
